Here is an additional NIH statement that has animal advocates thrilled about what is to come to protect our animals: (more…)

They may not be considered pets by any stretch of the imagination, but these creatures need saving too, no matter how aesthetically challenged they are. Poor dears! At least they won’t be teased in school by others more attractive than they are. We don’t believe they can communicate that way.
A new society called Ugly Animal Preservation Society (UAPS) was formed with an interesting mission. According to NewsDiscovery.com, they are “dedicated to raising the profile of some of Mother Nature’s more aesthetically challenged children. The panda gets too much attention.” (more…)
The ASPCA states that we are now in “kitten season.” What does this mean? Kitten season refers to a strong breeding time of the year (early spring/late fall) when kittens procreate more than usual. They eventually end up in shelters all over the United States that become inundated with homeless kittens that are eventually euthanized because they never find families to take them home. How many healthy cats and kittens are killed during this season? The answer is short of devastating – millions!
Overpopulation does not just lead to homeless animals who end up in shelters and then euthanized. Too many cats also leads to more animal abuse and neglect. Baby kittens are born into homes whose cats are not spayed and then families find themselves with newborn kittens that they do not want. Every cat deserves a happy, healthy and safe home; however, sadly, not all people see it that way and see these animals as very easily dispensable. (more…)

It happened in West Columbus OH, but happens everywhere and we have to be on top of the cruelty, the abuse and the completely unacceptable behavior that children impose upon innocent animals. An unidentified woman told ABC 6/FOX 28 on Saturday that after witnessing animal abuse at the Wedgewood Village Apartments complex, she called the police.
It was said that a children’s game got out of control when a group of about 12 kids aged 4 to 13 nearly tortured a kitten to death. They were stomping on him or her, using wielding sticks to poke the animal and used a squirt gun filled with milk to try to drown the cat. Do these children have any conscious or are they brought up to impose torture and cruelty upon other living things? Is this a sign for what is to come for future abuse on animals and people when these children are older? It has to be stopped! (more…)

A story that usually ends in tragedy instead ended the best way possible. Four puppies that were left in a dumpster to die, were reunited with their mother on Wednesday night. Yahoo! News reported out of Pinal County, Arizona that the puppies were found in the garbage by a Good Samaritan and brought to Pinal County Animal Care and Control for care.
When the Animal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) shares stories of animal abuse, people listen. Currently, their website shares the story of Jessie, a 3-year-old Boxer in Buncombe County, North Carolina.
This past March, the innocent animal was severely abused, almost to the point of dying. Domestic violence was the crime and it was committed by the dog’s owner’s former boyfriend. The trusting animal who loved the man who was to attempt to kill him, had his throat cut with a knife and lost enough blood to almost lose his life.
It was announced yesterday in a press release that The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)

Happy birthday to a brand new Harbor seal pup! You might think that would call for a celebration, but that was not the case when the newborn baby needed to be rescued from Long Island, New York and taken to the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation; a marine mammal hospital.
The pup was a female and according to the professionals, they say she was struggling against the surf at The Sands in Atlantic Beach. The pup was 3 days old when she was finally found. She was 2½ feet long and her umbilical cord was still attached.
