There is no legal ban on animal testing in the country of New Zealand and animal rights advocates say this means that it shows a lack of prevention. In other words, products that are currently being tested on animals overseas are legally being sold in the country.

Which countries have legal bans on animal testing for cosmetics? Since 2009, countries throughout Europe have made the list. The same goes for Israel and they were just made official in India last month. (more…)

Animal advocates will be thrilled that we are moving another step in the right direction. According to the Humane Society International:

“India has banned animal testing for cosmetics following intense public campaigning and legislative advocacy by Humane Society International’s Be Cruelty-Free India campaign, including support from Indian Members of Parliament and State Assemblies.”

Invasive tests on animals for cosmetics will be replaced with mandatory modern non-animal alternative tests. What does this mean for the cosmetic industry and animals? (more…)
