As reported by the ASPCA, approximately 50 dogs were rescued from what would look like a regular residence in the Bronx. The animals were all under five years old and were living in the basement of a six story apartment building. The space was being used as a makeshift dog fighting arena.
This basement area would make any animal advocate cringe. It had crude wooden cages and space for about 100 spectators to watch what is considered to be a felony – animal fighting. Once discovered, the building’s superintendent was taken into custody and charged with this felony, according to the ASPCA. (more…)
